Rekla Overview

Race Organizers & Locations: Most of the time race happens on Sundays. Race is organized by local Rekala club members, colleges, institutions, in association with Rekla Thalaimai Sangam. Races are organized in 15 days interval. There will be an entry fee for the participant to pay, which is collected as donations from all participants. There are few local VIPS who also sponsor funds to organize these events.

Race Categories: Rekala race is conducted in 2 categories. 200 and 300 meter.

Race Track setup: All the race track are thar roads. Width will be around 22 feet for all category. Race track will be a gradual slope upwards from starting point to finishing point. Both sides will be covered with steel barricade for safety. There will be a start and finish line according to the category. Starting point remains the same for both the category but the finish line will be different according to the category.

Cart Participation: Participant are allowed to ride their cart one by one only.
After each participant reaches the finish line next cart is prepared with next set of bulls behind the starting point and allowed to race in the race track. After each participant crosses the finish line the announcer will announce the time taken by the cart displayed in the LED stop watch system placed at the starting point. He also makes announcement (he reads the participants names and their vehicle number) while the cart is running on track.

Event Timings: Event starts around 6am and finishes off around 6 pm. 200 meter will be the first event for the day followed by 300 meters. Most of the time 200 meters will get over around 2 pm and 300 meters will start around 2.30pm after lunch break and finish off by 6 pm followed by price distribution.
